2023 World's Most Beautiful Airports Award by Prix Versailles

Te Hono New Plymouth Airport Terminal, designed by the collaboration of Puketapu Hapū, Papa Rererangi I Puketapu, New Plymouth District Council, Beca and Tihei on behalf of Puketapu has been named one of the World's Most Beautiful Airports by Prix Versailles – the prestigious World Architecture and Design Award at UNESCO.

Prix Versailles celebrates excellence in architecture, intelligent sustainability, and innovation globally. Chosen by a World Jury, the award recognises Te Hono New Plymouth Airport Terminal for its commitment to local heritage, ecological efficiency and social interaction, beautifully embodied in the design.

The land on which the airport sits holds significant value to Puketapu Hapū and their origin story is beautifully interwoven throughout the design of the terminal building.
